Fourth Grade Academic Content

At Stone Canyon Elementary we follow the Oklahoma Academic Standards for fourth grade. Some of the important topics in ELA are as follows, summarizing texts, cause and effect, fact and opinion, text features, text structures, genre study, point of view, and affixes. In Math we study place value, number sense, 3 by 1 digit multiplication, 2 by 2 digit multiplication, basic and long division, equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, and standard and metric systems of measurement. In fourth grade the science standards are mostly about energy, force and motion, Earth systems, and plants and animals. In social studies we focus on regions of the United States, Native Americans, and explorers of the United States.

 

The kiddos should be reading 20 minutes per night and studying on IXL Math. Their usernames and passwords can be found in the front of their planners.
